RESEARCH INTEREST

My research activity focuses on the synthesis of new lithium intercalation compounds and their electrochemical properties for Li-ion batteries and next generation metal-ion batteries. Novel intercalation compounds, mainly vanadium and manganese oxides and derivatives, but also thin film oxides, lithiated transition metal nitrides and silicium nanowires are investigated as positive or negative electrodes. We provide a comprehensive view of each insertion mechanism using a kinetic and thermodynamic approach combined with the use of Raman spectroscopy as a powerful tool to characterize the local structural changes occurring in electrode materials under operation.
